Apple unveils the iPad

Meet the iPad, Apple’s new tablet which computer h the company says will revolutionise all manner of digital publishing.

The iPad, which has been the subject of intense interest and speculation over the past year, was launched today by Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs at a special event in San Francisco.

Jobs, dressed in his trademark jeans and black skivvy, called it truly revolutionary and magic product.”

The multimedia, touchscreen device sports a 10 inch display and looks like a wider, flatter iPhone.

Jobs lunched into a demonstration, showing the tablet’s varied functions.

He described it as “like having the internet in the palm of your hands.”

It’s 0.5-inches thin, weighs just 1.5 pounds. Thinner and lighter than any netbook. 9.7-inch IPS display.

iPad is powered by our own custom silicon. Our own chip. It’s called the A4, and it screams.

1GHz. 16, 32, or 64GB of flash storage. It’s got the latest in wireless: 802.11n, WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.

The battery will last 10 Hours, one month on stand by.
